Classes

 

The following is a list of the type of classes that we are offering and the fees for them. Fees include the use of tools and all materials. Class size can range from 1 to 10 students. Call or E-mail to set up classes.

 

Copper Foil Class - Fee: $100.00
This class is designed to give the student an introduction to cutting and grinding glass as well as applying copper foil and soldering. Our beginning project is roughly an 8” x 12” panel using the copper foil method. The class is four 2-hour sessions. The student will complete the foil panel as well as a sun-catcher that gives the student an introduction to the lead method of construction. This class meets on Mondays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Classes begin the first Monday of every month.

 

Lead Class - Fee: $125.00
This class is designed to teach the student how construct a panel using lead came. Our lead class assumes that the student has some experience cutting and grinding glass. The project for this class is roughly a 14” x 20” panel. We have a selection of patterns to choose from. Other patterns may be used with prior approval. The class is four 2-hour sessions. This class meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Classes begin the first Tuesday of every month.

 

Fusing Class - Fee: $120.00
This class will meet for one 4-hour session. The class will introduce the students to the technical aspects of fusing such as glass compatibility, process temperatures, and annealing. The students will assemble various projects during the class and select molds to slump them in. The projects will be fired and slumped over the following week. The students can pick up their completed pieces after they have been slumped. This class will meet on Saturday from 10:00 – 2:00 PM. Classes are held the first Saturday of every month.

 

Bead-making Class - Fee: $100.00
This class will meet for two 2-hour sessions. The first session will cover the technical aspects of glass compatibility and annealing. Students will also make stringers, lattacino, and ribbons that will be used to decorate the beads they will make. In the second session, the students will learn to make several different shaped beads and decorate them with the items they made in the first session. The beads will be annealed overnight and the students will be able pick up their finished beads afterward. This class will meet on Saturday from 10:00 – 12:00 PM. Classes begin the third Saturday of each month.
